General Background Information:
John Mize has been with the firm since 1975. He has nearly 35 years of experience in health care law and, although he is no longer doing litigation, he has tried over 25 jury trials to conclusion. He has considerable experience in all areas of health care law including risk management, peer review, corporate compliance, medical staff relationships, Medicare and Medicaid issues, health care information and information systems, all aspects of health care contracting, and health care organizational structures. He has served as General Counsel for Salina Regional Health Center, a regional referral center, since it was formed through consolidation in 1995 and, before that, was general counsel to Asbury-Salina Regional Medical Center. He is a Past President of the Kansas Association of Hospital Attorneys, Chair-Elect of the Kansas Bar Association Health Law Section, and was recently appointed by the Kansas Commissioner of Insurance to the Board of Governors of the Kansas Health Care Stabilization Fund. He has been active as a governing board member and leader in many local and state-wide nonprofit professional, health care, civic and educational organizations.
