Background Information:
John's primary practice areas
are health law, nonprofit governance and management, and civil litigation.
He serves as general counsel to Salina Regional Health Center and its
related entities and has over twenty-five years of experience in health
care and tax-exempt organization law. He is an active member of the American
Health Lawyers Association. He has served three terms on the Board of
Directors of the Kansas Association of Hospital Attorneys and during
2006-2007 is the President of that organization. He recently served on
the Kansas Commission on Judicial Qualifications by appointment from
the Kansas Supreme Court. He has been a continuing education speaker
for the American Health Lawyers Association, several Kansas Bar Association
health and employment law programs, and has conducted a variety of seminars
for clients. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America selected by
his peers in the health law category. In 2005 published “The 8
Principles of Effective Governance: A Handbook for Nonprofit Directors”.
He is licensed in Kansas, Colorado, the U.S. District Court, the 10th
Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has also
served as a director and in leadership positions in a number of charitable
organizations.
