Kansas Senate unanimously confirms Peter Johnston’s appointment by Gov. Kelly to the Kansas Board of Regents

On February 11, 2026, the Kansas Senate confirmed Governor Laura Kelly’s appointment of Peter S. Johnston of the firm to the Kansas Board of Regents by a vote of 40-0.  The Kansas Board of Regents is a nine-member body, founded in 1925 and established in the Kansas Constitution, which governs the six state universities and coordinates the state’s public higher education system (six state universities, one municipal university, 19 community colleges, and six technical colleges).  Mr. Johnston’s term will run through June 30, 2029.

 

Mr. Johnston is a shareholder in the firm and serves as general counsel to Salina Regional Health Center and its affiliated hospitals and clinics.  He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® since 2016 in the areas of Medical Malpractice – Defendants; Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants; and Insurance Law.  He is a Fellow of the American Bar Association and the Kansas Bar Foundation (KBF).  He has served as a member of the Kansas Board of Law Examiners, the KBF Board of Trustees, and the University of Kansas (KU) Endowment Association Board of Trustees.  He is active in a number of Salina-area community organizations.
